Williamson Trip

The forest fire caused us to take a two-hour detour down into the valley and around the mountains. We had intended to approach our campsite from the east; now we would approach from the west.

During the drive we joked about what else could go wrong: encoutering a tornado, experiencing an earthquake, running out of Fruitopia Fruit Integration. Well, we didn't encounter a tornado or an earthquake, but we did bump into the biggest dust devil I'd ever seen. LeAnne captured it on film.

That's Steve, Beth, Dave, and Shelby in the Exploder ahead of us. That black smudge is either a bug-splat on the windshield of the Pathfinder or a small house being strewn hither and yon.

Well, we finally made it to the Buckhorn campground (motto: Blink and you'll miss our turnoff). Shelby was so happy that she decided to eat her leash. Todd had never seen such a well-trained dog before.
